Live Stream Fitness Classes: Strengthen & Stretch
Wednesdays • 12:30pm – 1:00pm

Join us for complimentary live stream fitness classes in partnership with Cleveland Clinic Canada. Led by Cleveland Clinic Canada’s Faiza Abdullah, these 30-minute, full-body sessions use Pilates-based floor exercises to help improve your strength, flexibility, posture and balance. Faiza is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist and certified Stott Pilates instructor. She believes movement is a pillar of health and uses exercise as a way to help people manage and prevent chronic conditions. All levels are welcome and you only need a yoga mat. Just find a comfortable place in your home and use your smartphone or computer to stream the sessions.

Jaclyn will shine a spotlight on gut health and share tips on how you can improve your digestion naturally.

Spring clean your diet

There’s no better time than the turn of the season to spring clean your lifestyle and get back on track. The objective of spring cleaning your diet is to refocus on trying new foods and making healthy choices. Out with the old and in with the new — foods, that is!
It’s often helpful to think about the foods you can have (as opposed to the foods you can’t), and focus on creating an eating style with a variety of those choices included. This may require taking bites of new foods that are unfamiliar.

The spring cleaning challenge:
1. Commit to trying a new fruit and vegetable each week during the month of April. If you have kids, make this fun by having them rank the new food on a scale from 1 to 10.
2. Plan your meals to include different coloured vegetables throughout the week. For example on Mondays, you could find a new yellow vegetable to try.
3. Swap out your standard grain for a whole grain half the nights of the week. Or try a new grain entirely, such as quinoa or couscous.
4. If you frequently order in or rely on takeout, make it a goal to cook a meal at home one or two nights during the week.
5. Substitute plant-based proteins into one of your standard recipes. For example, use beans in place of meat in chili, tacos and more.
